NTU Agricultural Exhibition Hall

After the retrocession of Taiwan in 1945, the government actively implemented a series of land reform policies to solve fundamental issues which hindered agricultural development. From there, such policies greatly improved the lives of farmers. To document the achievements of agricultural development in Taiwan, the then Vice President Chen Cheng and Minister of the Joint Commission on Rural Reconstruction (now restructured as the Council of Agriculture), Dr. Chiang Mon-lin, planned and built the Agricultural Exhibition Hall on the Main Campus of NTU. The Hall opened in 1964. At that time, it mainly exhibited the process and accomplishments of land reforms, as well as the progress of rural development.

Since then, the exhibition content has been updated continuously to reflect the agricultural development and social changes in the rural areas of Taiwan. The Hall itself is a three-story building with an innovative architectural design, regarded as a masterpiece of modern Chinese architecture by the famous architect Chang Chao-kang. As of now, it has been recognized as a municipal historical building by Taipei City Government. Showing the fusion of Chinese and Western architectural designs, the Hall is certainly an important milestone in the history of Taiwanese architecture.

To this day, the Agricultural Exhibition Hall has continued to serve as a model for the diversified management of museums in the university education of Taiwan. To meet the needs of the University and the public, the Hall will keep offering the latest information regarding agricultural promotion and innovation by organizing exhibitions, training programs, workshops, speeches, symposiums, and seminars. In addition, the Hall is also committed to the promotion of ecological agriculture, food and farming education, and rural culture. We cordially invite teachers, students, and the public for a visit, not just to see the innovative thinking in agriculture, but also to experience agriculture in practice and have fun.
